ABOUT

MISSION

The Grace and Abraham Rappaport Memorial Foundation was established in 2023 in order to honor the lives and memory of Grace and Abraham Rappaport by providing financial assistance to charitable organizations that undertake to:

  • provide safety and protection to Jewish people and Jewish communities everywhere,

  • combat antisemitism, and/or

  • engage in outreach to Jews who have been unaffiliated with the Jewish community.

HISTORY

Grace (Jacobs) and Abraham Rappaport were part of the great migration from the shtetls of Eastern Europe to the hope and freedom of the United States during the early 20th century. Together in Lawrence, Massachusetts, they built a life that was both thoroughly Jewish and thoroughly American concurrently. There they raised four children who all in turn produced grandchildren. Descendants today, of both full and partial Jewish lineage, now live from coast to coast across the entire country.

Both husband and wife were very active and involved in the local Jewish community in Lawrence, as well as the greater Jewish community in the state, country, and world. Donations to the foundation and grants made by the foundation are done to honor and maintain their legacy and their memory.
